What You Should Know About Reinke’s Wheel Gearbox Warranty

June 16, 2020

People who work in Texas’ agricultural industry and use Reinke products for their irrigation practices should be aware of the wheel gearbox warranties the company offers.

In 2018, Reinke rolled out a brand-new warranty plan that provided extra levels of protection for its new Reinke-UMC® 740-U-AD™ 10/16 wheel gearbox. The warranty plan covers 10 years/16,000 hours of operation. This warranty immediately became the longest gearbox warranty available across the entire industry for any lateral move irrigation system or electric center pivot.

About the warranty

For purposes of comparison, you can expect standard warranties from other companies to fall in the neighborhood of eight years/8,000 hours. Reinke had last increased its gearbox warranty in 2010, at which point it went up to 10 years/10,000 hours.

Reinke’s President Chris Roth said the increase in the warranty was all about giving farmers extra peace of mind in its products as the company continues to strive to be at the forefront of advancements and technologies in the world of irrigation.

The latest wheel gearbox featured newly designed high torque gears made out of materials designed to enhance gear lubrication. Numerous studies have analyzed the performance of the new Reinke wheel gearbox, comparing it to previous Reinke models as well as other competitor gearboxes, and found that it outperforms all other models in all forms of testing. So not only does Reinke now offer the best gearbox warranty in the business, but it also offers objectively the best wheel gearbox as well.

Tests covered a variety of areas. With regard to gearbox load capacity testing, which measures the amount of load that can be applied to the gearbox before it begins to make noise (a sign of extreme wear), the new Reinke model outperformed other models in the test by 22 percent. Testing for average accelerated gearbox life saw the new Reinke model last at least twice as long as comparative models, at more than 18,000 hours. A sustained gearbox oil temperature test saw the new Reinke model maintain a much cooler average operating temperature than other models—15 degrees cooler on average, which indicated there was more energy being put into moving the system than being put out of it.

Reinke continues to focus on developing gearboxes that are lighter, stronger and more efficient to place less strain on equipment components and create less concern for owners about repairs and maintenance. The equipment tests seem to indicate it has created its finest product yet, and with it being backed by an industry-best warranty, there simply isn’t another wheel gearbox available on the market that can hold a candle to what Reinke offers.
