Where Reinke came from

We wanted to give you a little bit of background about Reinke so you can better understand why we are so thrilled to be a certified Reinke dealer.

The company was founded by Richard F. Reinke in 1954. He got his start on a family farm, and began manufacturing farm and commercial building structural components. At first, the Reinke Manufacturing Company specialized in chicken houses and laminated rafters, but it wouldn’t be long before the company branched out.

By the late 1960s, Reinke had introduced the very first reversible electric drive center pivot with a collector ring allowing continuous rotation and a span over 100 feet long. This revolutionary equipment, with its patented V-jack truss design, was called the ELECTROGATOR®, and it changed the industry forever. In fact, to this day, when you see irrigation systems using center pivot technology, it’s Mr. Reinke whom you should thank!

This system was also the very first to incorporate interchangeable truss and pipe components, an O-ring gasket between the pipes for a non-intrusive seal and the very first gear-driven towable system with rubber tires.

Reinke continued to innovate in the field throughout the 1970s, adding additional water pipe options for varying field and water quality conditions. During this decade, the company began using high-strength steel to reduce the weight of the system, which also increased the life of the drivetrain and reduced soil compaction.

In the 1980s, Reinke developed new methods of preventing gasket failures caused by misalignment and sunlight, including embedding V-ring seals as non-intrusive gaskets in between pipe flanges, which allowed those flanges to be connected face to face. The company also made a number of improvements in electronic enclosures.

By the 1990s, Reinke introduced the Drop Span, which made for easier connection and disconnection of adjacent spans to allow greater coverage during irrigation. Onboard controls were also significantly enhanced.

Technological upgrades only came at a faster pace in the 2000s, including more controls, GPS guidance, robotic welding, new irrigation products, variable rate irrigation via touchscreen control panel and so much more.

Reinke has been around for nearly 60 years, and has had an ongoing history of pushing for new developments and higher quality products. The company will never stop working to provide its customers with the very best products possible.
